1814 - A Different Story

This exhibition was Anno museum's largest production celebrating the Constitutional Anniversary of 2014. It views the turbulent years between 1807 and 1814 from a different point of view, that of the civilian population in the border areas - men, women and children, those who never had memorials erected in their honour.

Hardly anywhere was the ravagings of the Napoleonic wars in Norway more severe than in the Kongsvinger region. There were battles and actions of war here, both in 1808 and in 1814. While much has been written  and said about the battles and skirmishes, as well as the Swedish attempt at an invasion, little has been said of the civilian local population, about women and children and people just trying to survive and go about their daily lives. This exhibition seeks to remedy that.
